We are doing it again!
According to the National Park Service an invasive species is "A non-native species that causes harm to the environment, economy, or human, animal, or plant health". In addition to this, invasive species can be found in almost every corner of the world and along the Schuylkill River Trail is no exception. SRG spends a lot of time maintaining the invasive species and every once and awhile gets an opportunity to remove some from a location.
In this opportunity, volunteers will help SRG staff to remove invasive species from along the Bartrum Section of the Schuylkill River Trail around the Therman Madera Loop using basic hand tools such as loppers and hand saws. Volunteers will be taught some of the most common species affecting the trail and some effective means of removal.
Basic tools will be provided but if special equipment is required by a volunteer, it is the responsibility of the volunteer to provide this. Gloves and safety glasses will be provided if needed or wanted. Everyone who intends to participate in the event will be required to fill out the waiver required before the day of the event. If you are not able to fill out the waiver online, some will be provided the day of the event.
