In this event we will completing some preventative maintenance on the areas next to the Gibraltar Section of the trail. The edges of the trail in this area are bordered by a Norfolk Southern Rail Line and a steep slope up hill. This means that storm water management is very important and protecting the areas where the water flows need to be addressed every year.
For the event volunteers will help SRG staff keep the trail safe while equipment removes heavy sediment and debris clogging water flow. Volunteers will also ensure that the damages created by equipment on the trail are fixed and normal trail activity can resume after the event has ended. Various other miscellaneous tasks will also be completed during the event.
Basic tools will be provided but if special equipment is required by a volunteer, it is the responsibility of the volunteer to provide this. Gloves and safety glasses will be provided if needed or wanted. Everyone who intends to participate in the event will be required to fill out the waiver required before the day of the event. If you are not able to fill out the waiver online, some will be provided the day of the event.
