Hello all,
The time has come for our first ever Invasive Species Certification Class!
During this class you will learn about some of the most common invasive species within the Schuylkill River National Heritage Area. The first part of the class will be a classroom instruction about how to properly describe plants which is important when trying to identify unknown plants and a detailed overview of many of the most common invasives you will see in the heritage area. The second part will be a field study to look for some of the invasive species discussed in the classroom. During the field study participants will also be asked to try and practice describing the plants looked at like discussed in class. The final part of the certification process will be to take a quiz to put your knowledge of the invasives in the area to the test. Once completed you will all be given a small booklet to keep with illustrations of the plant species we learned about during the class and a certificate will be emailed to you.
All parts of the certification process will happen at River Front Park in Pottstown, Montgomery County.
This class is not a complete guide to all things invasive species but is designed to be a steppingstone to get more education on the subject or build excitement for the natural world around you!
We are excited to see you and hope you consider the signing up!
